A nearly full moon is rising as we head into the final night at sea of our voyage to St. Augustine Florida. We just left Charleston, SC a few hours ago..... In many ways this trip, which was supposed to be a short jaunt down the coast, has been an epic little voyage.

It is Monday evening, and I am sitting aboard the boat at North Cove Marina, Manhattan Island, New York City. The last time OceanPlanet was here was September 15, 2002, at the start of our first around the world race, the 2002/2003 Around Alone.

10/21/2005 - MITC trip to France now includes Les Sables! Florida trip filling up fast!
By Saturday afternoon, I will be off to France with the Maine International Trade Commission (MITC). This trip comes at a very busy time for me....as we are preparing Ocean Planet for our mid-November Leg 1 voyage to Florida

10/3/2005 - Off to France again!
One of the most rewarding parts of racing the Vendee Globe was the opportunity to promote French-American relations. Of course it was in our own small way, but I'll never forget the hundreds (thousands?) of schoolkids on the pontoon to greet me and Ocean Planet. I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

9/19/2005 - At the Shipyard Cup
Sailing with a guest crew of enthusiastic supporters, everyone had great time this weekend at the 3rd annual Shipyard Cup Regatta based in Boothbay, Maine.

5/13/2005 - On to Horta
As we plod along through a nearly windless zone, near the center of a forming mild low pressure system, I'm thankful that we can now use the motor to take a shortcut to better wind...

3/21/2005 - What a weekend!
Anyone that says the U.S.A. doesn't follow shorthanded ocean racing should have hung out with me the last few days in Portland, Maine. I am a bit dizzy from all the hullabooloo, but will try to remember it all...

3/8/2005 - The biggest fans
The most gratifying thing for me about the Vendee Globe has been seeing the faces of the kids who have followed Ocean Planet around the world...
